Suspension System Overview

A vehicle’s suspension system contains a few major parts, including:

• Shocks and struts are designed to allow springs to compress at their own speed, but release slowly to better absorb bumps

Most cars have independent front suspension systems. The two front wheels will be attached independently of each other, which allow them to move on their own. Some vehicles may have independent rear suspensions, which may also be called four-wheel independent suspension.
