Although the heating and air conditioning (AC) systems are not vital to whether a car runs properly, they are one of the central components to improving the driving experience. In many modern cars, the heating system is usually a part of the car radiator, a part that cools the engine by circulating its hot fluids through a series of small cooler pipes. One of these pipes is generally named the “heater core.” It has a small fan by it that blows hot air out of the heater vents.

Alternately, air conditioning systems consist of:

• Compressor, which compresses a refrigerant into a hot gas and delivers it to a condenser
• Condenser, which cools the hot gas into a liquid and delivers this liquid to an expansion valve
• Expansion value, which returns the liquid to a low-pressure gas and delivers this gas to the evaporator
• Evaporator, which quickly cools the gas

As with the heating system, the AC system includes a small fan by the evaporator, which blows cool air through the AC vents.
